Scope and Contents
The Henry Bane Papers consist of certificates, diplomas, photographs, and WWII-era military medals of Judge Henry Bane (1904-1998). Certificates recognize his involvement as President of the North Carolina State Association of B'nai B'rith Lodges, a Jewish organization, from 1941 to 1942. Diplomas include Bane's undergraduate degree from Duke University and his law degree from the University of North Carolina. Scope and Contents
Collection of primarily financial materials that belonged to Samuel R. and Carrie Tyson, who lived in Durham from the early 1900s until the 1950s, when they passed away. There is a letter from their nephew who was a seaman in World War II, telling them that he has established them as the beneficiaries of his life insurance policy if he dies at sea. There are also several receipts from Durham businesses in the 1930s, including the Criterion Soda Shop and the Palms Restaurant.
