Scope and Contents
The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Durham records include materials related to the history of the church. The folders include church bulletins from the 1989 centennial services, a 1967 fiftieth anniversary service, a 1995 mother-daughter banquet program; an audio cassette tape recording of the 1989 homecoming; several letters and clippings related to individual church members; and numerous photographs, most unlabeled. The scrapbook contains the history of the church from 1926, including clippings and photographs of pastors and their families, many photographs of church members and church activities, several church bulletins and other documents, organized by decade.

Administrative History
The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Durham was founded in 1889 as the Gospel Tabernacle of Durham. Its charter was issued in 1917 as Gospel Tabernacle of Durham and the church was located at the corner of Morris and Morgan Streets. A brick church building was built at 301 N Gregson Street in 1927 at the intersection with Lamond Avenue. The church was known by the following names: Christian and Missionary Alliance Gospel Tabernacle, the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Durham, Durham Alliance Church, First Alliance Church after a group of members founded Faith Alliance Church on Umstead Road, and lastly Trinity Community Church. Trinity Community Church closed in June 2006.
