Parkwood Elementary School photographs, scrapbooks, and other materials
Scope and Contents
The collection contains scrapbooks, photographs, and yearbooks from Parkwood Elementary School. Most of the photographs are class pictures, but the collection also includes pictures and negatives of school activities and field trips. There is also a CD of pictures of the Waterwise Garden, a garden planted by Parkwood students and sponsored by the Northeast Creek Streamwatch.

Administrative History
Part of the Durham County Schools system, Parkwood Elementary School opened in 1967 on Revere Road in Southwest Durham. It is located in Parkwood neighborhood, which grew up starting in 1960 to house workers in the newly opened Research Triangle Park. Originally the school had a faculty of 13 teachers, a librarian, and a principal. The facility was remodeled in 1983, 1989, 1992 and 2005.
