Scope and Contents This collection contains a 1960 flyer calling for boycotts of Woolworth's, Kress, and Walgreens in downtown Durham. While its creators are not named, the flyer's sections document "Why??" citizens were being asked to boycott stores that would sell merchandise to but not seat African American customers for service at their lunch counters, explains "What Can You Do??" including shopping elsewhere, letter writing and petitions, and instructs to "Join the Student Picket Lines" which were "manned...

Scope and Contents Both registers list taxpayer names and payments. The 1936 register is organized by township. Townships include Durham, Carr, Cedar Fork, Lebanon, Mangum, Oak Grove, and Patterson. The undated register is organized into city and surrounding township records. Both registers have separate sections for white and colored taxpayers.

Scope and Contents The collection includes correspondence from historian R. Kelly Bryant to the Durham County Library and North Carolina State Archives, listings of more than 1,900 burials recorded at Violet Park Cemetery compiled by Carrie McNair, and two related newspaper clippings.
