The Bible was printed in 1892 in Durham, North Carolina, by T. J. Gattis & Son. One of the pages at the front feature an inscription by Hampton Umstead to his daughter Claude. The family records portion of the Bible was removed sometime before it was donated. The bank receipts cover 1908 thru 1926 and are with many businesses that were in Durham at the time, such as S.T. Mangum's General Merchandise and W.A. Slater and Co.
